blu-ray movie review

Storyline:

Perched on the hull of a wrecked Soviet freighter, a team of deep-sea miners -- led by head oceanographer Steven Beck -- comes face to face with a mutant creature that's the product of a failed genetic experiment. As Beck's crew members begin to disappear one by one, the flesh-eating monster lurks below the surface -- and the divers left alive are scared to death.

3. Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! (1990) (Criterion)

The Criterion Collection / Blu-ray + DVDCriterion | 1990 | 102 min | Rated NC-17 | Aug 19, 2014 (New Release)

blu-ray movie review

Storyline:

In 1988, after years of making sexually adventurous provocations that didn’t travel very far beyond Spain, Pedro Almodóvar scored a major international hit with his hyperactive farce Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown. It was the perfect time for him to play it safe, capitalizing on his newfound success by heading even further toward the mainstream. Instead, he followed Women On The Verge with Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, a twisted romantic comedy in which the meet-cute sees the guy deliberately punch the girl in the face hard enough to knock her unconscious. Audiences eager to see more wacky shenanigans, perhaps involving consensual bondage, were treated to a relatively subdued and rather disturbing tale about a woman who slowly falls in love with her abductor, seemingly against her will. What’s more, the MPAA saddled the film with an X rating ...

4. Y Tu Mama Tambien (2001) (Criterion)
The Criterion Collection / Blu-ray + DVDCriterion | 2001 | 106 min | Rated R | Aug 19, 2014 (New Release)

blu-ray movie review

Storyline:

The story of Tenoch (Diego Luna) and Julio (Gael García Bernal) makes up only half of Y Tu Mamá También, as that ribald bildungsroman works at an apparent remove from another narrative, one in which Cuarón's pet themes emerge: Although Tenoch and Julio may be willfully ignorant to it, their lives are irrevocably affected by the political and social insecurities of Mexico as the country embraces a dubious idealism.

5. Once Upon a Time: The Complete Third Season Blu-ray

Disney / Buena Vista | 2013-2014 | Season 3 | 950 min | Rated TV-14 | Aug 19, 2014 (New Release)

blu-ray movie review

Storyline:

Emma Swan gets the surprise of her life when Henry, the son she gave up 10 years ago, arrives on her doorstep. Returning the boy to his adoptive mother becomes complicated when Henry reveals a stunning theory to Emma. Everyone in Storybrooke, Maine is a fairytale character under a curse, and Emma - as the long lost daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming - is the one who can save them all. The story unfolds; interweaving scenes of the drama in the sleepy New England town and the the inhabitants' past lives in the world of fairy tales. The timeless battle of good vs evil is ready to begin again.

Best way to Download DVD Movies Into iTunes

Want to rip DVD to iTunes supported video formats? Simply follow this article to rip and sync DVD movies to iDevice like iPhone, iPad, iPod, etc. with the top DVD Ripping software program.

iTunes enables you to import and watch videos directly on your PC, but it doesn’t include a feature for downloading content from a DVD. To help your easily add DVD movies to your iTunes library, you have to get aid of a DVD ripping applicaion at first to help you rip DVD to iTunes compatible videos before transferring them to your iPhone, iPad, iPod, or stream to Apple TV etc. for playback.

The process of extracting audio and video from a DVD is commonly referred to as “ripping.” Ripping also includes the process of encoding, which converts the DVD content to a specific digital file format, such as MP4. Here, the best program I can recommend is Pavube DVDAid- the Best DVD Ripping software program, which can help you rip DVD to iTunes supported video formats quickly and easily and with good video quality.

Besides that, you can crop the black bars, add special video effects, split or merge videos, etc. as you like with the built-in editor. Just get it and rip DVD to iTunes supported videos for playback on your iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPhone 5S, iPhone SC, iPod touch, etc. in just a few mouse clicks! The equivalent Mac version is Pavtube DVD to iTunes Ripper for Mac. Just get the right one according to your situation.

Free Download the DVD to iTunes Ripper and follow the brief guide below to make your DVD playable on iDevice (iPhone/iPad/iPod)

How to Watch DVD Videos on iPhone, iPad, iPod via iTunes

Part 1: Convert DVD to iTunes

Step 1. Run DVD to iTunes Converter; load DVD movies

Click the disc button to browse and import DVD disc from ROM, or load the ISO/IFO files that you want to convert for viewing on Apple iOS-based devices.

Pavtube DVDAid will detect and list the main title (the full length of this movie with all the chapters) and check it by default. So just keep it untouched and let’s move on to Step 2.

Step 2. Choose export format

You can click the dropdown menu between “Format” and “Settings”, you will see many presets sorted of different device models and programs. Move your cursor over the left column to locate your device model/manufacturer, or you can try the small search box on the bottom right corner.

For example, if you own an iPhone, iPad, iPod, just choose the best profile from iPad/iPhone/iPod column.

Step 3. Adjust specs or edit video before conversion (Optional)

Click “Settings” button to configure target file quality. After entering “Profile Settings” panel, you are allowed to adjust video and audio parameters such as bit rate, frame rate, sample rate, etc..

If you prefer a much better video quality and don’t mind the output file size, you can rise the video bit rate higher than 1500. Generally speaking, the higher video bit rate will result in the larger output file size, and vice versa.

Step 4. Start conversion

Now hit the big red “Convert” to start converting DVD movies to MP4 with best settings for playback on different idevices.

After the conversion, you can get the converted DVD rips in *.mp4 format by clicking the “Open” or “Open output folder” icon.

Part 2: Import DVD to iTunes library to sync to iPhone/iPod/iPad

Requirement:

iTunes (the latest version iTunes 11 is recommended); iTunes Store account; Internet access (if necessary)

1. Launch iTunes 11, add the movie video file to your iTunes library, create versions optimized for your device using the Advanced menu.

2. Click "Add to File" under "File" and browse and add the converted DVD video to your iTunes library. iTunes 11 will auto classify it in Movies category. You can play it directly on iTunes.

3. Drag the DVD movie to your iOS device including iPhone, iPad, iPod,etc. from iTunes library. Or you may sync the video to iPad iPhone iPod. After that, you have successfully transferred DVD video from iTunes to iOS device for playback.

With DVDAid or DVDAid for Mac, you can have DVD videos in iTunes library as many as possible to enjoy HD videos without buying. It may help rip copy protected DVDs to iTunes11 on PC or Mac. It is fair legal to backup your own DVDs for non-commercial use.

What's more? If you got a video in MKV/ISO and other formats, it is absolutely impossible for iTunes to recognize, let alone play it in iTunes.

Movie review: 22 Jump Street

I found the first one hilarious, and I was excited for this one since it was getting massive praise. But jesus, was this movie bad from what I saw. Jokes just fell flat and seemed disjointed and reminded me of a Family guy episode. I made it to the frat party and bounced. Anyone else felt the same?

22 Jump Street
(MA15+) ***
Creation date: July 8, 2014
Director: Phil Lord & Chris Miller.
Cast: Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube, Wyatt Russell, Amber Stevens, Peter Stormare, Jillian Bell.

22 Jump Street, the sequel to the 2012 comedy, brings us more hilarious, laugh out loud moments.  The sequel tells a similar story to the previous film and uses a lot of same jokes.  While the redundancy might slow the movie down from time to time, the film’s self-awareness of being a sequel is just over the top funny.

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum return as Schmidt and Jenko, the two undercover cops for the Jump Street program.  After the success in the previous film, the Jump Street program received more budgets and our heroes are going to undercover at college this time around.  The movie then follows the same path as the previous movie, and the two partners ended up joining different social groups.  Jenko ends up investigating with the jocky frat boys, and Schmidt ends up with the artsy crowd.  The two begin to resentment each others, but the final stretch put them back together and their friendship never ends.

Review: 'Begin Again' sparkles sometimes but tries too hard

Rating: R (for language)
Cast: Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Adam Levine, Hailee Steinfeld, Catherine Keener
Director and writer:
John Carney
Running time: 1 hour,
41 minutes

Writer-director John Carney replays his greatest hit with "Begin Again," a semi-successful attempt to re-create the magic of the Oscar-winning musical "Once," only this time in New York and with a big-name cast.
Get past the wildly improbable "music biz" moments and impromptu performances that feel anything but impromptu, and this all-star cast and several utterly charming scenes give it a sparkle that overcomes the manufactured/trying-too-hard feel of it.

Keira Knightley is a British singer-songwriter summoned, reluctantly, on stage by a busker-pal who is performing in an intimate, down-market bar in Manhattan. Mark Ruffalo plays the only guy paying attention, standing, staring, transfixed by her performance.

A flashback takes us through the bad day Dan Mulligan's had, leading to that moment. He's a drunken has-been of a music "A & R Man," an "artists and repertoire" guru who had the record label he started snatched away from him by his partner (Mos Def).
