Best 10 Easter Movies for Kids and Family to Watch

A fun holiday tradition for many people is watching a film about that day or season. Some people snuggle close with a loved one while other prefer to laugh with a huge group of friends or even watch alone with a bowl of popcorn. However you like to watch movies, Easter is another fun holiday to find films to enjoy. With 2016 Easter day is closing, it is the suitable time to enjoy some Christian movies with kids to educate them the history of Easter.

To make the task easier, we prepared top 10 best Easter movies for you to watch with kids. Many are children’s movies, but there are plenty of other genres represented as well: horror, religious, musical and drama. There is something for everyone to enjoy.

1:The First Easter Rabbit

This animated Easter movies is made in 1976 but is enjoyable today. It tells the tale of a stuffed rabbit who is magically brought to life. Not only must he deliver eggs to all the children, he must also save Easter Valley from being frozen over by the evil Zero. The best part about this cute movie is the narrating by Burl Ives’ deep voice

2:Rise of the Guardians

One Guardian is destroyed but comes back to life at the end of the movie. There's some insulting language like "coward" and "selfish" and "go suck an egg," and in a flashback, a main character drowns but transforms rather than dying. Whether they personally believe in these characters or not (and the nontraditional way they're portrayed here could get some of them wondering...), kids will root for the Guardians as they fight the forces of chaos and despair.

3:It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown

Peppermint Patty is determined to demonstrate the art of Easter egg dyeing to her friend Marcie, who seems just as destined to thwart all attempts. Linus has turned his faith from the Great Pumpkin to the Easter Beagle, who he promises will make Easter special for all of them. And Lucy believes this holiday should be about "getting," a misunderstanding reinforced by scenes set in department stores already decked for the Christmas holidays.

4: Bugs Bunny's Easter Funnies

Bug's Bunnies Easter Funnies weaves together classic Looney Tunes with newly animated sequences, creating an all new story for kids and Looney fans of all ages. When the Easter Bunny is sick, Bugs and friends try their hand at taking over the job. Well, it seems like another bunny, one named Bugs in particular, might be the most apt at hopping around playing Easter Rabbit, but Sylvester, Pepe Le Pew, Foghorn Leghorn and Daffy all want to get in on the fun as well.

5:Winnie the Pooh - Springtime with Roo

It's springtime in the Hundred Acre Woods, Easter day is here, and everyone is excited. Even Rabbit is in festive spirits, but he's more interested in Spring Cleaning Day. Roo and the gang are crushed when Rabbit even goes so far as to declare that Easter is cancelled. Can Roo, Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger remind Rabbit of the fun of Easter and bring their favorite Easter Bunny back?

6:Easter Parade

Starring Judy Garland and Fred Astaire and featuring music by Irving Berlin, "Easter Parade" definitely falls on the lighter end of the Easter movie spectrum. Astair stars as a dancer suddenly bereft of a partner when his former colleague (Ann Miller) departs the duo for a solo career. Astair's character finds a replacement in a chorus dancer who can not only move, but has a great singing voice (Garland). The movie features beloved numbers such as "It Only Happens When I Dance With You," "A Couple of Swells" and of course, "Easter Parade."

7:The Passion of Christ

The Passion of Christ is certainly not for the faint hearted with its gruesome but honest portrayal of Jesus’ crucifixion. Mel Gibson directed this film that had enormous box office success as well as 2005 Oscar nominations for music, makeup and cinematography. For those who can handle this heavy subject matter and intensity, The Passion of Christ is a great reminder of the first Easter.

8:The Greatest Story Ever Told

Max Von Sydow portrays Jesus in this three-plus hour movie that also features Charlton Heston as John the Baptist and follows the life of Christ from Nativity to Resurrection. Other notable stars in the movie include Angela Lansbury, Jose Ferrer, Telly Savalas and Dorothy McGuire, and it marks the final film of Claude Rains.

9:Hop

Maybe you want a more recent animated Easter film? Hop is just that with humor for children and adults, a teenager rebelling from his father, a battle for control of Easter and rockin’ music. E.B. is the son of the Easter Bunny and heir to his father’s job. However, this rabbit would prefer to be a drummer and runs away to Hollywood. Upbeat and sugary sweet, this movie is sure to be a family favorite.

10: The Easter Bunny Is Comin' to Town

S.D. Kluger, whose real name is Sunny, and was adopted by the citizens of Kidville, a town where only children live. He helped bring happiness to children, starting with young King Bruce the Frail, who rules a nearby, gloomy town called Town. However, the King's aunt, the evil Duchess Lily Longtooth also reigns as regent, until such time as young Bruce comes of age.
